MOLLY BEACH MURPHY is a writer of plays and musicals originally from Galveston, Texas. Her plays has been developed in New York City with New York Theater Workshop (where she is a NYTW ‘Usual Suspect’), Ars Nova, Page 73 Productions, The Civilian’s, New York Stage & Film, Williamstown Theater Festival, The Orchard Project, Rockefeller Brothers’ Fund, Yale Institute for Music Theater, NYMF, Pipeline Theater Company. Regionally, Molly’s work has been developed with The Alley Theatre, UCROSS, The Wilma, Two River Theatre, The Village Theatre among many others. Molly was The Drama League’s Beatrice Terry Resident, a member of Page 73’s I-73 writing group, a New Georges Audrey Resident and a semi-finalist for the Page 73 Playwriting Fellowship. Her essays and personal writings have been published in American Theatre Magazine, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, The Hairpin, & The Santa Ana River Review. She is a Guest Lecturer of Playwrighting at the University of Birmingham.

Molly began her theatre career in NYC as a director’s assistant. Working On and Off-Broadway for directors such as Tina Landau, Jo Bonney, Patricia McGregor, Bill Irwin, Regina Taylor among others. She then worked as an assistant to the playwrights John Guare and Suzan-Lori Parks. It was under their stewardship that Molly began to create her own plays and musicals.
